چکیده

Developing highly active and durable electrocatalysts, consisting of earth-abundant elements, for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is pivotal large-scale water splitting hydrogen production. Herein, we report that the commercially available FeNiCo alloy can be converted to a electrocatalyst OER by galvanostatic anodizing in fluoride-containing ethylene glycol electrolyte. Anodizing develops porous film (FeNiCo)F2 phase, which readily oxyhydroxide during anodic polarization KOH The anodized exhibits high activity durability with an overpotential as low 0.26 V at current density 10 mA cm–2. present study demonstrates simple cost-effective process used form electrode from low-cost, practical, iron-based alloy. In addition, found fluorides containing Fe, Ni, Co are excellent precursors formation oxyhydroxides exhibiting durability.

Chemical Recognition of Active Oxygen Species on the Surface of Oxygen Evolution Reaction Electrocatalysts

Owing to the transient nature of the intermediates formed during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) on the surface of transition metal oxides, their nature remains largely elusive by the means of simple techniques. The use of chemical probes is proposed, which, owing to their specific affinities towards different oxygen species, unravel the role played by these species on the OER mechanism. Fo...

Non‐Fermi Liquids as Highly Active Oxygen Evolution Reaction Catalysts

The oxygen evolution reaction (OER) plays a key role in emerging energy conversion technologies such as rechargeable metal-air batteries, and direct solar water splitting. Herein, a remarkably low overpotential of ≈150 mV at 10 mA cm-2disk in alkaline solutions using one of the non-Fermi liquids, Hg2Ru2O7, is reported. Hg2Ru2O7 displays a rapid increase in current density and excellent durabili...
